Oh, I could rant about how gross the movie was in comparison. But I'd rather talk about the glory and beauty of the animated. *_* It's fabulous.

And the Zuuuuuutaraaaaaaaaaaaa.

Aang is actually thirteen at the end of the series. XD
Actually, the ages are:
Zuko - 17
Katara - 15
Aang - 13

So... Katara's love interests are both two years apart. XD

In the first episode, it was:
Zuko - 16
Sokka - 15
Katara - 14
Aang - 12

I don't claim to know Toph's age. XD

Just because I happen to know that.

YOU DIDN'T?
OWELL.
THAT JUST MAKES AANPH (I MADE THAT NAME UP--NOT SURE WHAT THE OFFICIAL ONE IS) MORE CANON.
HAHAH.

Move out of the way, people! ATLA EXPERT coming through.

The ages are right but Katara and Zuko.....it just....doesn't work. I mean I see how they LOOK better as a couple and I love Zuko but I think Mai is his perfect match. And Aang is Katara's perfect match.

Mai?!
She's totally depressing and she doesn't even seem like she even LIKES Zuko. It's terrible and makes me sad to see that he cares about her so much.

Aang, yes, he does love Katara like nobody's business, but Zuko and Katara have this...connection that you see whenever they're together (well, at least when Katara isn't yelling at him). When they were imprisoned in Ba Sing Se, they found out they had a lot more in common than they thought. When Katara thinks she's found who may have killed her mother, Zuko willingly goes with her to help her complete her revenge when nobody else will and when he knows that she's being driven by hatred, like he had once been. And when he sacrificed himself for her when Azula tried to kill her, I mean, GAH.

HOW WERE THEY NOT CANON!?
*dies*

Remember they were ALMOST canon. Yes they have alot in common and they have a connection but who's been helping her the whole series and vice versa? Aang. Who's been trying to track her, Sokka, Toph and Aang down for most of the series? Zuko. Who betrayed Katara's trust at Ba Sing Se? Zuko. Everyone only thinks about when he's good but think about what he did when he was evil. Yes, yes he's changed but who's to say that all of those bad memories will resurface for Katara if they ever did get together? Or heaven forbid she'd use it against him.

Wow we take this waaaay too seriously lol

Re: Avatar: The Last Airbender

Post by ThaliaAnderson on 15th August 2010, 9:05 am

Yes yes, but keyword is he was evil. And heck, I would be too if my father hated me and called me weak and the only way to get his love and my honor back was to track down some old guy I didn't know. When you feel that alone, you do some crazy things that you regret later on. Zuko's character is a perfect example of that.

And that's what makes him such a great character anyway. He shows the most character development of anybody in the entire series. He's the only one who shows a real struggle. Aang's only real struggle was if he was going to kill the Firelord, or simply beat him up a lot. Zuko was the most real out of anybody.

And personally (this is my own opinion), that's what makes him better for Katara. I mean, when I read a book or something, I generally am upset when one character immediately falls in love with another, much like Aang fell for Katara. There has to be a build in the relationship, and getting to know the other character. Zuko and Katara had their moments, which is what made their relationship strong. Aang simply felt that he loved her and went with that the entire series.

For example, in one of my fave series, Pendragon, the main character Bobby immediately falls for this girl, Courtney. The first lines of the entire series is him fanboying all over her. But in the first book, he meets a girl named Loor who is destined to be his partner in crime, if you will. She pretty much hates him for being weak and a total wimp, because she's a warrior and was taught to always be strong. Bobby has to prove that he can be just as brave as she is, and their relationship grows throughout all ten books of the series, until Bobby realizes that he loves Loor. Meanwhile, Courtney is sitting on her butt, wondering why Bobby can possibly fall in love with somebody else when she's loved him back//had a crush on him for however long. The Aang/Katara/Zuko love triangle is much like this.

...How is it that I fall in love with the couple that was almost 100% canon, and then ended up not in the end? .__. This seems hardly fair, hahah.

Yes yes, I am passionate about my Avatar. XD

I still think Zutara is alot like my Garue for the reasons you mentioned Thalia, and that he has a scar on his face, and Katara has an overprotective big brother.

Yes, I have spoken.

I'm passionate about Avatar too but I don't typically get passionate about Zutara, mainly because I was perfectly happy with how the show went and how it ended. I wouldn't love it as much if I didn't think they did it perfectly.

I only had a few things I didn't like all that much overall and other things that didn't quite make sense.

I can see your point with Zutara and I respect all opinions but the fact of the matter is that it didn't end that way, it ended Kataang. And I'm fine with that. There are other things in the series worth debating even if Zutara is the number one controversy.

Like Yue. I hated her. Or when the sand benders stole Appa, don't get me started.

I sooo could have lived without "Appa's Lost Days". Talk about a waste of like, five episodes.

Yes, like I said somewhere in my KH Q&A explanation, I'm the type who goes much beyond what is given, so I do tend to look a lot past what the show gave me, which I think mainly is why I'm so passionate especially about Zutara. I feel like there's so much that could have happened that didn't, which does tend to upset me, though overall I am happy with the way the series ended as well, even if I think that some things should have been different.

I didn't mind Yue so much. I mean, I wouldn't have chosen her for a main Sokka love interest or anything, because I love Suki to death, hahah.

I don't understand Sokka/Toph. Gahhhh.

Re: Avatar: The Last Airbender

Post by swim2live on 16th August 2010, 4:14 pm

Yue upset me mainly because of the way she treated Sokka. She was so indecisive about the whole thing. I mean, I get that you're engaged but it's a simple "Yes, I do like Sokka." or "No, I don't like Sokka" There's no reason for her to continuously bring it up and only change her answer all the time. I'm just glad she isn't one of those character's that did absolutely nothing, at least she did something.

The thing I don't get about the sand benders is that they claim that they didn't know Appa was the avatar's bison. That makes no sense because who else would have one? That whole thing could've been avoided really, but I do enjoy the tension it made and I also liked getting a glimpse into Appa's past. And, if Appa hadn't run away then Aang never would've met the guru.

I like Suki and all but she's a character that they could've gone the whole series without, except the little part at the end where she pulls the airship over. But without Suki, who would be Sokka's love interest? Which is another reason why the movie The Last Airbender made me mad.
